There are three ways to reach Atauro Island from Dili: the public ferry, a speedboat or a short flight. The public ferry runs every day except Monday. All boats leave Dili in the morning, and there are no afternoon boats from Dili unless you charter one.
Atauro Dive Resort can help organise transport for our guests. Once you arrive on Atauro, the resort is about 400 metres south of the jetty in Beloi.
Public ferry timetable
Tuesday and Friday: MV Success leaves Dili at 08:00 from Kolmera and leaves Beloi, Atauro, at 15:00. The crossing takes about 3 hours. $5 one way, children under 8 travel free.
Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday: Berlin Nakroma leaves Dili at 08:00 from Porto Dili in Farol and leaves Beloi at 15:00. The crossing takes about 2 hours 15 minutes. $4 one way, children under 10 travel free.
Monday: no public ferry in either direction.
Tickets are sold at the departure point on the day of travel, for US dollar cash only. There is no online booking. Arrive about an hour early, and check which port your ferry leaves from, because the two boats use different ones. The Dragon fast ferry has been out of service since December 2025.
Speedboat: speedboats leave Dili around 07:30, weather permitting, and cost about $70 per person one way. Contact us to check the speedboat schedule.
Flight: MAF flies from Dili to Atauro in about 20 minutes on Monday at 07:30, Wednesday at 10:00 and Friday at 16:30, and flies back on Monday at 08:10, Wednesday at 10:40 and Friday at 17:10. $80 per adult and $55 per child. Call MAF on +670 7515 1515.

Getting to Timor-Leste: direct international flights reach Dili from Bali (Aero Dili and Citilink), Darwin (Qantas, Airnorth and Aero Dili), Kuala Lumpur (Batik Air and Aero Dili), Singapore and Xiamen (Aero Dili). The afternoon ferry from Atauro reaches Dili in the early evening, too late for a flight out the same day, so plan your last night in Dili.
